Steve stopped at the armorer’s office and poked his head in the door. Abraham sat there, chatting with Cal, who looked up and beckoned Steve into the office.

“Sorry to interrupt.” Steve kept it casual. “I need a standard package for my jump.”

“Excuse me, Abe.” Cal stood and turned to the cage behind his desk. He unlocked the door and stepped inside. He grabbed a tray off a shelf, filled it with a few items from different shelves, and then returned to his desk. He put the tray on his desk and sat down. He pulled out his keyboard and started typing. “Do you think we’ll ever see any of the missing equipment?”

Steve smiled. “What can I tell you? The file is still open. We’re working on it.”

“Just how much stuff are we missing?” Abraham took an interest.

Cal ran a finger down his screen. “Roughly six sidearms and four QFGs.”

“Well, that is unacceptable,” said Abraham, glancing at Steve.

“Don’t look at me. Derek’s in charge.”

Cal finished his logging and slid the tray toward Steve. “One sidearm; two extra magazines, all fully loaded; one QFG with remote.”

“Looks good.” Steve took the stylus and tablet Cal offered and signed his name. “Thanks, guys.” Steve turned to leave.

“Wait, Steve.” Abraham got to his feet. “I’ll walk with you.”
